Our products are made in Australia with environmentally conscious ingredients that protect our community from toxic chemicals, harmful agriculture, and excess resource consumption.
We use a combination of naturally derived and synthetic ingredients to bring you high quality and safe products that are also kind to our environment. Our ingredients are vetted against the strictest standards set out by the independent fragrance regulatory body, the IFRA, ensuring all fragrances and ingredients are non-toxic, hypoallergenic and safe.
We limit the use of ‘natural’ ingredients to reduce our impact on the environment caused by harmful agriculture. It puts an incredible strain on our environment to produce the thousands of plants and flowers that are required for just the smallest amount of ‘natural’ fragrance oil. The impacts include but are not limited to extreme farming practices resulting in deforestation, excess resource consumption, immense water usage, and frivolous energy consumption.
The claim ‘natural’ can be misleading and its use is often unregulated with an unclear definition. Natural in simple terms means ‘existing in or derived from nature’ but this does not correlate to better for us humans. Many things in their pure and natural form can cause harm to humans due to allergens that lie within the oils of some plants and flowers. And, their use in fragrance can cause serious harm to our environment through the use of pesticides, herbicides and genetic modification necessary to increase farming yields, not to mention other environmental issues of farming.
Synthetic fragrances are man-made substances that replicate natural accord. They have a significantly reduced impact on the environment and are chemically similar to natural oil, just without the allergens and can be controlled and enhanced by science.
However, not all synthetics are made equal, which is why we stringently test our ingredients and ensure all synthetics in our fragrances are free from petroleum and other unwanted compounds including toxins, known endocrine disruptors , and known carcinogens. Synthetics ingredients are a wonderful way to produce safe and high quality fragrances while also reducing our environmental footprint, reducing harmful agriculture, deforestation, and excess resource consumption. Using synthetics also enables us to be cruelty free and vegan — as many ‘natural’ fragrance oils like musk and ambergris come from animals – and the abstraction of natural oils often results in harm or death to animals, insects and native plant species.
We believe more rural farms should be re-wilded and urban farming, vertical farming and smart farming is the way of the future.
